Question.4059 - Selecting a Survey Research Design Survey research designs provide an organizing framework for survey research studies. Selection of a specific survey design needs to match not only the goals of a study, but the characteristics of the population as well. Survey designs also must be empirically justified. When researchers introduce a particular survey design, part of the empirical justification includes citing studies that have used similar designs, ideally with great success. You should be working on a literature review on the topic you plan to use for your Research Proposal in preparation for this week's Assignment. A significant part of the literature review chapter in any dissertation includes a full review of your chosen research design, as well as a comparison of your design with other designs. For example, you might justify why you are using a cross-sectional approach as opposed to a longitudinal approach. As such, you are required to practice this skill this week by selecting and justifying a research design for your Research Proposal. To prepare for this Discussion, consider which survey research design would be most appropriate for addressing your problem and research question(s). This design optimally should address your research problem and be appropriate for your population. Additionally, consider how you would justify your choice of design by explaining why it is most appropriate compared to 2–3 other research designs. Resources Be sure to review the Learning Resources before completing this activity. Click the weekly resources link to access the resources. WEEKLY RESOURCES With these thoughts in mind: By Day 3 Post a brief description of the research problem and purpose you selected for your Research Proposal. Explain which survey research design is most appropriate for addressing your problem and research question(s). Justify your choice of design by explaining why it is most appropriate compared to other designs. Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources. Read a selection of your colleagues' postings. By Day 5 Peer responses should be posted by Day 5. Please respond in the following ways: Ask a probing question. Share an insight from having read your colleagues' postings. Offer and support an opinion. Validate an idea with your own experience. Make a suggestion. Expand on your colleagues' postings. Return to this Discussion in a few days to read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you learned and/or any insights you gained as a result of your colleagues' comments.
