Question.257 - Question 1 What?did you learn this week?? If answering in words, make sure that you answer in your own words. Expected length is approximately 2-4 sentences.? If answering in a picture, make sure that the picture is clear and is your own picture (not a copy of a picture from the notes, book, internet, etc.) ? Your Answer: I learned from this week is that living things are made up of different kinds of cells. Biomolecules are the most important molecules in our bodies. They are responsible for the metabolic activities in our body. There are two subtypes of biomolecules: Macromolecules: Proteins, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), carbohydrates and fats. Micromolecules: Vitamins, minerals.? ? Question 2 How?did you learn this week? This is where I'd like for you to write about the components of the lesson that facilitated your learning (activities, discussions, etc.). Your Answer: I have learned different concepts this week. Through activities, discussions and quizzes I learned about different biomolecules.? ? Question 3 What is a vocabulary word that seemed important this week??In your own words, what does that word mean? You can use words, a picture, or a video to answer.? Your Answer: The important vocabulary words for this week are absorption, active transportation, biosynthesis, cell wall, cellulose. They are important functions or activities of our body. ? Question 4 Were you able to view your feedback from last week's assignments?? You Answered ?? Yes and I don't have any questions. ? ?? Yes, and I have questions. ? ?? No because I didn't see any feedback. ? ?? No because I don't know how to look for the feedback. ? ?? No because I didn't look for the feedback. ? ? Question 5 Has your group established a dialogue outside of your required discussion posts?? Asynchronous courses are tricky because I want you to collaborate with your group, but I need to make sure that you are able to complete your assignment without waiting for a group member that may be on a different schedule. As such, I provide discussion boards and other types of collaborative experiences, but I do encourage you to establish dialogue with your group outside of those activities. Many of you suggested starting a group text messaging thread or a GroupMe group.? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-do-i-start-a-group-in-groupme-d7488e15-4429-43ff-85fa-a5c7775305e2?(Links to an external site.)? ?? We have already started dialogue (group text, GroupMe, etc). ? ?? We will start a group text or GroupMe this week. ? You Answered ?? We haven't yet and I'm not sure how to facilitate that. ? ?? I'd rather not have dialogue with my group outside of the assignments. ? ? Question 6 How do you feel about your ability to describe basic atomic structure?? You Answered ?? Confident - I can describe the structure of an atom and the properties of the subatomic particles. ? ?? I could use more practice ? ?? A little lost - I'd like to talk about this with my peers ? ?? Completely lost - I need to talk about this with Sunni ? https://youtu.be/TYEYEIuTmGQLinks to an external site.If you'd like practice in building atoms, go to explorelearning.com and use the element builder Gizmo. The student exploration document is attached here.?ElementBuilderSE.docx??Download ElementBuilderSE.docx? ? ? Question 7 How do you feel about your ability to describe atomic bonding?? ?? Confident - I can describe covalent bonding and am clear about how this is different than ionic bonding. ? You Answered ?? I need more practice ? ?? I'm a little lost and I'd like to talk with my peers. ? ?? I'm really lost and need to talk to Sunni ? If you'd like more practice, go to explorelearning.com and click on the Covalent Bonds Gizmo. I also added the ionic bonds gizmo if you would like to work on that (keeping in mind that ionic bonds will be covered primarily in GS3310). I only mention them in this course because ions have a charge, which makes them hydrophilic.? See the student exploration documents provided by Explore Learning attached.?CovalentBondsSE.docx??Download CovalentBondsSE.docxIonicBondsSE.docx??Download IonicBondsSE.docx? ? Question 8 How do you feel about your ability to describe the biomolecules?? These biomolecules make up living things, so we will constantly be referencing them through the semester and build upon your knowledge. For now, I am happy if you can identify a picture of a biomolecule as one of the major groups and can give the properties and functions of the major groups in the cell.? Next week, we will talk about building and breaking down these molecules as part of your overall cellular metabolism.? You Answered ?? Confident - I can identify and describe all of the biomolecules. ? ?? I need more practice ? ?? I'm a little lost and will chat with my group members. ? ?? I'm really lost and need to talk to Sunni. ? https://youtu.be/YO244P1e9QMLinks to an external site.? ? Question 9 How do you feel about your ability to describe the structure of water and its characteristics?? You Answered ?? Confident - I can describe the intermolecular (hydrogen bonding) and intramolecular (polar covalent) onds that are important with water ? ?? I need more practice ? ?? I'm a little lost and will reach out to my group. ? ?? I'm really lost and need to talk to Sunni. ?
